Coaching Specialties
Whilst we can cover all of the skills in cricket. Spin bowling and batting will be our strengths. Fielding is an essential part of cricket and in our group sessions this will be a big focus to improve the players game as this is what we spend most of our time doing whilst playing cricket.
Finger Spin
Mainly bowled by slightly older players due to longer fingers and having more control of the ball. It is the most common type of spin we will see. with a right arm off spinner, getting the ball to deviate towards a right handed batter's legs. Whilst this is called finger spin, the wrist does have a part to play in incorporating spin onto the ball.
variations
Whilst players need to have a stock ball, variations are an integral part of the spin bowler's arsenal. We will coach a multiple of variations for the bowlers that include the arm ball and carrom ball for finger spinners to the googly, top spinner and flipper for the wrist spinner.
Wrist Spin
Widely seen in younger spinners due to gripping the ball much easier. The wrist spinner can generate lots of revs on the ball. One of the hardest skills to master in all of cricket, wrist spin bowlers will tend to have slightly less control of where they pitch the ball, however due to the introduction of T20 cricket, wrist spinners have become gold dust in this format and becoming a necessity for all teams
Different formats
Different formats require a different style of bowling and a good player will be able adapt to each format. The longer format, will have different field placings and the ability to allow the ball to be flighted more. As the shorter format comes in, a bowler still needs to have the ability to spin the bowl but the trajectory will change.
General Batting
There are some absolute fundamentals that all players need to have in order to bat competently. The main focus in the first few sessions of many new batters is to build good fundamentals that include a comfortable grip and set up and when they hit the ball, they have a good base, are well balanced and the ability to hit through the ball to score runs.
Batting Against Pace
Whilst players will practice most against pace bowlers, some bowlers will have the ability to swing the ball or get seam movement. Some bowlers will be too quick and an element of fear starts to take over. We work on players to gain confidence to play a ball that moves laterally and for bowlers who may be too quick.
Batting Against SPin
Many players find it difficult to play spin consistently well. We help players come up with a game plan to work to their strengths against both types of spin. This could be playing with the spin, against the spin, the ability to play multiple sweep shots and come down the wicket. We will find a game plan that will work for you to get consistent results.
Power Hitting
With T20 cricket being at the forefront of our game, it is important that not only we score runs but we score big runs. clearing the boundary is becoming an essential part of any players game. Using basic fundamentals, we aim to make every player have the ability to clear the boundary on a regular basis all around the wicket.
